Engine 71-4 (formerly Engine 74) is the 14th Unit to be in service with the
Department, it was delivered by Pierce in May of 2001, and Christened and placed
into service in July of the same year. The Enclosed Cab is the first for the
department, since due to federal regulations, no new fire trucks can be built with
open cabs. 74 was also the first Spotswood Fire Department unit to carry the Jaws
of Life and other extrication equipment when the Department took over as the
town's primary extrication department from the Spotswood First Aid Squad in 2001.
